Entry Description

TAYAP is a mountain retreat in Negros, built from the owner's collection of hardwood and antique doors/windows. Designed as a rustic space to spark ideas for developing the land, the temporary, movable structure allows flexibility for relocation or dismantling. Just 30 minutes from the Airport, TAYAP offers a peaceful escape where the one can enjoy natural surroundings.

Minimal uplighting ensures the stars remain visible. The lighting design seamlessly integrates interior and exterior spaces. Low-wattage stake-mounted lights softly illuminate the boulders in front of the Cottage, blending naturally with the environment.

The wooden façade comes to life with evenly distributed, dimmable, glare-free lighting that highlights its texture, while the main door receives the same treatment, creating a cohesive glow. Inside, a center table with a striking focal plant is gently spotlighted. Above, three decorative pendants cast mesmerizing shadows, adding depth and intrigue to the space. Subtle Spotlights, enhance the native masks on the walls, demonstrating how understated lighting can make a profound impact on the space.

The outdoor dining area, the inner portion of the wooden columns is illuminated to emphasize their height and texture, casting shadows on the ground. Careful lighting installation ensures minimal glare, allowing guests to enjoy the night sky in a tranquil setting.
