Entry DescriptionResidence of the three generations cherish nature, is designed as a courtyard house using natural materials like timber and exposed reinforced concrete. The exterior features lime-plastered walls, while wooden screens and louvers provide shade, ensuring cool interiors filled with indirect light. Although luxurious, we aimed for an understated, humble space with low light levels and striking contrasts with focuse on designer luminaires. The house is fully automated for energy efficiency, offering comfortable, darker lighting at night. Extensive discussions with family members informed the design, ensuring each generation's lifestyle and lighting needs were met. The lighting concept harmonizes with natural daylight, using electric circuits that balance indoor brightness, with warm 2700K lighting in living areas and RGBW lights in entertainment zones. Ceiling lights align with the concrete slab's structure, while the strategy includes adjustable downlights, curtain grazers for accents, and decorative fixtures to complement the furniture. A bespoke glass luminaire in the foyer enhances the welcoming atmosphere. Bedrooms feature low-level step lights and bedside lamps for indirect illumination. The veranda, covered with wooden screens, is subtly lit by indirect light, highlighting the timber's beauty. The entertainment zone is equipped with layered lighting and RGBW lights.
Sustainability ApproachCareful location of light renders the vertical surfaces in a designed manner that habitants do not need much light and they can always reduce it with the wall touch panels or from their mobile. This type of interface is practical for the guests and maintenance staff too as it is combined with symbolic engraving of each scene to be used for the desired emotion. Use of occupancy sensors reduces energy waste when space is unoccupied. Inclination to high quality materials at a high-cost shows client commitment for sustainability and priority for durable products.
