Entry DescriptionIf you want to enjoy a menu in a restaurant that has been awarded 3 stars by the GUIDE MICHELIN, then you expect an exceptional menu. The basis of the lighting concept therefore pursues the perfect and natural illumination of the dishes on the table. It was important to us that the guest perceives the extraordinary variety of decorative details, textures and color nuances of the dishes and thus experiences an optimal visual pleasure. At the same time, the indirect reflection of the table surfaces creates a smooth soft light, which slightly brightens the facial features of the guests and supports a pleasant conversation. To feel privacy and security at the table, the lighting level drops around the tables, creating an intimate atmosphere in the room. Each table can be individually dimmed by the waiter via a smartphone and can thus be individually adapted to the needs of the guests.
In order to minimize distraction from the food, the artificial light above the tables is generated by special luminaires that emit their light downwards through a small 8 mm hole in the ceiling. The lights are thus almost invisible. In addition to this light component, there is also some accent light that brightens curtain fabrics that serve as room dividers in a way that accentuates the drape of the fabrics. The exterior lighting is also coordinated with the light inside for a nice view outside.
Sustainability ApproachIn our concept, planning with sustainability in mind means using light only where it is actually needed. The focus of the planning is the presentation of the food on the table. All other areas are subordinate to this. We have developed a dramaturgy that has enabled us to save up to 50% energy compared to the original LED lighting which illuminated the entire dining room. In terms of the individual table, this means that we only need 13 W here.
The efficiency of a luminaire is often not the only factor in sustainable design. In our case it is the dramaturgy, the creative play with light and surfaces which enables us to achieve a high quality of stay with simultaneous perfect illumination of the food. Our motto "less is more".
