Entry DescriptionDesigned with the residential private collector in mind, the ArtDownlight™ with MagPoint™ system is a patent-pending mini trimless downlight with a 2cm aperture using a high colour rendition 97CRI LED, to ensure colour accuracy in the artwork. The MagPoint™ system provides the discreet nature of a downlight with the flexibility of a track lighting system. The MagPoint™ has an innovative self-tapping mechanism allowing trimless retrofit and new build integration into ceilings without the need to re-plaster the ceiling. The installation is simple and fast, minimising time and cost, while providing a discreet aesthetic. The ArtDownlight™ is fully adjustable in pan and tilt offering maximum flexibility to angle the light onto the art. A louvre allows the user to trim the light at the top of the painting minimising light spill above the artwork. The downlight can be plugged into the MagPoint™ aperture and where a downlight is not required, a blanking plate can be added and removed as needed, as the art collection evolves. The ArtDownlight™ is available with a zoomable function allowing the user to vary the beam width by the simple rotation of a bezel. Also available with fixed beam width lenses: narrow, medium and flood, to be interchanged by the user. The downlight can also be removed and replaced with a surface spotlight to provide flexibility and allow further adjustments.
Sustainability ApproachThe ArtDownlight™ was designed to promote lower energy products for lighting art. We found that art lighting was typically too bright for artwork conservation standards and needed to be dimmed, so we designed a lower powered product, reducing unnecessary energy consumption. The product is manufactured from aluminium with a high recycled content and is fabricated from 95% aluminium recyclable parts. Our heatsinks are designed to maximise LED longevity and at end of life the LEDs can be replaced to promote product longevity and minimise waste. In Historic Houses, we reduced energy consumption by up to 90% and achieved a 50% reduction at a series of global art fairs. We’re working on our TM66 accreditation, fostering a circular economy in the lighting industry, as well as undergoing a thorough review of design and manufacturing policies by the LIA, evaluating our environmental practices.
