Entry Description17 cities in nine Jutland municipalities are involved in the establishment of the new international art attraction 'The World's Gables' together with local zealots, local councils, cultural associations, cultural institutions and artists who focus on sustainability and community.
Specifically, it is about creating 17 new international works of art - each work focuses on one of the UN's 17 global goals that are important to the individual city. The 17 works are performed in 17 different art forms. The 17 gable works will be presented over 17 weeks in 2022.
light-bearing tree
The work is created in relief with colored concrete and phosphorescent pigments.
In daylight, the work show shades of blue with twisted branches. In darkness, a luminous green net of roots is drawn.
Sustainability ApproachPhosphorescent materials collect light during the day and emit light in the dark.
This kind of light requires darkness to shine brightly.
Since our cities are generally overlit, it is difficult to find dark places.
Therefore, the work is supplemented by UV light, which is also found in the sun's rays.
The work is an investigation of and whether we can use nature's own light sources as lighting.
With Light-bearing tree, I hope to be able to focus on a discussion about future light sources in our urban spaces.
