Entry DescriptionWat Intharam is a historic Buddhist Monastery built during the Ayutthaya Era and became of importances in the Thonburi Era when King Taksin granted it the status of a royal temple.. Wat Intharam has been registered as a national heritage by the Fine Arts Department since 1949.
The territory of the Monastery is considered sacred for Buddhism, representing The Heaven on earth. The Buddhists believe that once they go across the territory, the soul will be cleansed and purified. The Lighting Design Scheme for this Historic Monastery was intended to represent the spirit of Holy land. Extra-Cool white light gives the impression of divine clouds above, while a hint of Warm Sunrise light touching the tip of Stupas creates an imaginary connection between the mythological land and the real world.
Three small chapels located between Stupas are wrapped with eye-catching magenta light, inviting people to explore inside, where during the special event there was a performing projection mapping telling the story of Buddha’s afterlife.
Sustainability ApproachThe entire illumination was achieved by utilizing LED technology, together with strategic choice of light distributions and wattages to minimize the quantity of lighting fixtures and light pollution.
