Entry DescriptionUniversidad Humanitas is a private university located in Queretaro, Mexico. The university was founded in 1999 by a group of academics and business leaders.
The campus covers an area of approximately 20 hectares and includes several modern buildings that house classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, and student services.
Jerry Colmenero of Enlightening Ideas was brought in after construction had already started, as the building is made of cement the previous contractor had already predetermined lighting locations, so lens and aperture selection was key in overcoming the previous design. However an electrical system was not yet put in this gave us opportunity to use Lyntec panels for power control and management.
Lighting was designed to enhance the classic architecture of the facility without overwhelming the dimensions; offer power management and create a beacon on the hill.
Sustainability ApproachLyntec motorized breaker panels were implemented to power cycle to a completely "off" state during daytime hours. Areas in the facilty were also programed to be in an "off" state when not in use. A power consumption of up to 15% was achieved in power cycling unused areas and utilizing a "power applied when needed" approach.
