Entry Description

The lighting design of Arengo and Podestà Palaces, Contemporary Art Museum in the city of RIMINI, has been developped following the exhibit design of the Italian studio AR.CH.IT. The general focus of the design phase is both oriented towards the art collection donated to San Patrignano and the architectural significance of remarkable 12th and 13th century palaces. Responding to functional and formal issues a customized suspended linear luminaire has been designed and engineered including an integrated projector trackline and lateral diffusing surfaces, both sides, with dimmable and dynamic white options besides the opportunity to conceive coloured longitudinal lines into the space.
The expressive vividness of works of art exhibited in the historical context has suggested the use of a variable light throughout the day thus respecting the conservation requirements of contemporary museum of art. The major space of the historical building, as well as the other exhibit spaces with smaller luminaire, has required a 36 m long LED module controlled by a DALI system managed by a Helvar technology with a multiple functional task: indirect diffuse light toward the ceiling, diffuse RGBW light for lateral emission and white accent light towards the works of art. The suspended luminaire was named as the historical building which host the art collection and became the “ Arengo module”.
