Entry Description

The Central Axis of Beijing has 800 years of history, as the longest north-south axis in the world, is the spirit of Beijing.
The lighting promotion was a significant window to display the culture of Beijing to the world during the Winter Olympics.
First, the current situation was analyzed by examining the urban lighting, and uncover the historical context. Control indicators of brightness, color and dynamic of the whole section were set to create orderly light and dark. Against the background of landmark buildings, multiple scenes and stories were created.
Second, the Bell and Drum Tower, as a time-telling center in ancient China, corresponds to the Chinese time concepts of “Youshi (5 p.m. to 7 p.m), Haishi (9 p.m. to 11 p.m.)” and other ancient times. Time perception and space perception were connected here by altering various color temperatures. Meanwhile, for cultural preservation buildings such as the Drum Tower, accurate light projection from long distance was applied to protect cultural relics without installing lights on the building. And the color restoration of the building was promoted.
Third, the landscape lighting contributes to the revival of the streets; reproducing the prosperity of time-honored brands and other commercial markets at night and enhancing the life quality of residents. It is a representative of urban renewal and culture revival of Beijing.
