Entry DescriptionAn outdated department store is transformed into a place for work and retail. Radically gutted by the architects, the once enclosed building structure is reduced to its concrete skeleton. The new building envelope made of glass was altered by wedge-shaped volumes offering a superior-quality office atmosphere flooded with natural light. The lighting concept offers maximum visual comfort for its employees and flexibility for various uses – taking into account an appropriate aesthetic of the lighting elements as well as the night view of the transparent cube.
The solution: a linear luminaire system running in between the ceiling sails in the north-south direction which provides general and accent lighting with design stringency across all floors. In total, 13 km of linear LEDs with approx. 6,000 LED light inserts were installed while the strict lighting budget is adhered to. The high-performance luminaire system meets the requirements for optimized efficiency, high-quality lighting and low installation and maintenance costs. The consistent linearity and the interplay of diffused general illumination and powerful, directional lighting give the office building a contemporary aesthetic.
