Entry Description

The lighting for a power company’s new headquarters is a metaphor for the firm itself. The tower’s dynamic exterior lighting transitions into an equally compelling lighting scheme inside, expressing energy and motion.

Cove lights are used to emphasize the sweeping curve of the lobby entrance. Along the perimeter edge, these coves accentuate the room’s height as the walls soar through the ceiling.

A “lines of light” motif, which complements the cove design, is visible throughout the tower. It is first
seen in the lobby, where monumental recesses carved into the stone walls glow with well-shielded vertical coves. These elements’ staggered layout reinforces a sense of upward movement.

On workplace floors, the linear detail is reinterpreted as lines that identify private offices and animate connecting corridors. In dining areas, floating, dashed lines of light integrated into wood ceilings soften the linear theme, creating a quieter ambience. In the fitness center, thin lines of light arranged in an active pattern suggest movement and vitality.

The forms and arrangements of a single lighting element convey the inherent dynamism of the corporation’s nature.
