Entry Description

Krasnoyarsk bridge is a road-and-foot-traffic bridge over the River Yenisei. It connects the right and left banks of the Krasnoyarsk city. This brilliant example of the latest Stalin’s empire style is included in the UNESCO reference book “Bridge engineering of the World”.
The bridge represents cultural heritage of Russia.
The illumination works were done just before XXIX International Winter Universiade.
The concept followed the principle of inversion, where the light is turned “upside down” to lighten up internal part of the bridge which is shaded during the daytime. Arch spans are the dominant elements of the construction. Their lighting takes into account the reflection properties of the building materials and water surfaces. We emphasised unique geometry of the span by evenly distributing the light along it. We also managed to preserve the visual lightness of the heavy object. Finely-delineated arches set a tone to the whole dynamics, create the desired light effect, and multiple-colour combination create special evening atmosphere and add uniqueness to the construction.
