Entry Description

Abu Dhabi Municipality’s Contract 393 – 20 Municipal Playgrounds project consists of miscellaneous public playgrounds located in various residential neighborhoods of Abu Dhabi’s newly developed townships. Every playground carries a distinct theme. Some miscellaneous themes being followed in the design philosophy were “Drifting Sands”, “Hajar Mountains”, “Spice Souq”, and “Beading Water”. Hence the lighting for each of the playground follows a different theme as well. The designs for all the 20 playgrounds were conceived right at the time when Abu Dhabi’s lighting standards were undergoing a major overhaul. The standards were being redefined by ADM in order to ensure much higher quality lighting design for all public realm projects. It was one of the first projects in the Emirate to adapt to the first drafts of the Abu Dhabi Lighting Policy and Standards for Parks, Public Realm and Architectural Lighting. The designs for all 20 sites were being developed in parallel to new standards.
