Entry Description

The owners of this 500sm condominium wanted their home to be luxurious yet functional, modern yet warm, technologically sophisticated yet easy to operate and maintain.
Lighting needed to reflect the owners’ love of art, color, food and fashion, showcasing artwork and collections, and serve various functions, from intimate evenings to large philanthropic fundraisers.
Complexity of spaces, compounded by coffered ceilings and tiny coves, was successfully addressed by asymmetric patterns which add interest and support the interior design and architecture. Difficult glossy, reflective surfaces were addressed with careful concealment of light sources in the ceilings, walls, coves and niches.
Contrast is leveraged by isolating art objects within niches, emphasizing lighting hierarchy and adding interest. Individual spaces are united by glare free, volumetric light that adds continuity and tranquillity.
With the exception of the bespoke dining room chandelier which is lamped with halogen to create sparkle within the glass, all luminaires are LED 3K 90+CRI.
In the words of the client: “Hiring you (as our lighting designers) was one of the best design decisions we made.”
