My City Center is a community mall operated by the UAE’s largest retail chain – The Majid Al Futtaim Group. It is designed to meet Estidama Pearl 3 requirements, equivalent to the LEED Gold.
Sustainability and energy efficiency are the driving factors to every aspect; including lighting design. The client brief was to achieve an elegant design which complies with all the functional standards, yet is eye-catching and low on energy consumption at the same time.
In the interiors, contemporary geometrical chandeliers adorn main entrance lobbies. Low glare downlights in clustered formation run on parallel ceilings on both sides. The main circulation corridors are uniformly lit up with a combination of covelights and low glare clustered downlights. Pockets of coves run along the center; with reverse coves along the both perimeter edges resulting in a uniform and soft illumination.
The predominant focus on the exterior façade is the perforated metal screens, subtly grazed with linear LED’s placed at the back. organic shaped entrance canopy is accentuated by use of miniature surface mounted downlights fixed at various nodes, and soft linears running along the perimeter.
