Entry Description

Monstera Deliciosa is a site-specific project made for Palazzo di Napoli, in the hearth of Palermo; it is a huge abandoned palace that still shows a glimpse of the luxurious past. The light sculptures use autochthone plants as objects for the projections to fill again the empty space with life: they’re integrated in the architectonic space and they keep a constant dialogue between inside/outside, present/past, near/far, true/not true. Like a trip in the discovery of uncertain dimensions, where the scale is constantly changed. the new images amplify the reality, and the light is used as plastic and chromatic medium, opening a reflection on the possibility and limits of individual perception. The duality look/see is the key to read the artworks: everyone can see, but not everyone is able to look. In the magic of light and shadows, the stories are created by the eyes working together with the intellectual capacity, where the more you look the more you can see as all is created by light.
