Completion Date 2/5/16
Project Location NEW YORK USA
Entry Description

Libby Kowalski started her long career in textiles as a fine artist; today she produces KOVA Textiles® while continuing to make her own work. The idea for the Petal Loop™ shade was born while preparing for a solo exhibition. Her creative vision saw purpose in the mill ends and waste from her company’s textiles and she started looping strips of repurposed fabric into layers of translucent petals. The shade is segmented for use on a standing lamp, hanging globe, or floor to ceiling column of any height which can be lit and wired for sound.
KOVA Textiles® creates technical fabrics for solar shades, upholstery, wallcovering, acoustical purposes. The mesh of the fabric (polyester core polymer alloy coated yarns) is heat set for stability and ease of use. The process forms a textile that is both delicate in appearance and strong enough for installed reality in many applications. KOVA’s award winning textiles are anti-microbial, stain resistant and pass necessary tests for commercial use.
