Entry Description

The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York is part of the congressionally chartered, nationwide Federal Home Loan Bank System, created in 1932 to provide a flexible credit liquidity source for member community lenders engaged in home mortgage and neighborhood lending.

In the design for the new 64,000 sq. ft. offices of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, lighting plays a role in making sense of a complex architectural footprint. Glowing lines of light to organize irregular ceiling geometries, while pendant cylinder downlights stand in stark contrast with the dark open ceiling surface, reinforcing a sense of scale and rhythm, punctuating circulation spaces and dividing them from work zones. Color-changing cove lighting crowns the trading area as the heart and centerpiece of the bank’s operation. Functional wellness features include individual controls for adjustable workstation height, dimmable lighting, and daylight-responsive illumination at perimeter spaces.
