Entry Description

This started as a messy affair. A form of lighting already existed, the associated electrical installation was already in place, the ceilings were installed and the client was unclear as to what he was selling – only 2D tiling or additional 3D objects in the form of basins, bathtubs and toilets…? Add to this the challenge of lighting surfaces with multiple characteristics – highly reflective or virtually non-reflective; coloured or non-coloured; textured or smooth; specular or matt; and it became clear that this was not a case of ‘one size lighting fits all’…! The client was in the classic bind of realising that his initial lighting solution was not the solution but not knowing what to do about it……
The lighting concept developed quickly. Its backbone was to reveal the qualities of the vast selection of tiles in ‘visual hi-fi’ – without distracting ‘noise’ or clutter – just a pure visual message delivered as cleanly and attractively as possible.
